mouseychuu replied to your post: WHAT. A. BITCH. WOW, what’s her deal? Talking shit…

seriously, these adults ought to feel fucking ashamed of themselves. omg someone being “judgmental”?! Well, clearly that’s the worst thing EVER! Meanwhile, let me go drop a cool grand on plastic while people in the real world suffer. Adults—harumph!

Enjoy your credit card debt. Meanwhile I am going to places like Hawaii with my money.

mouseychuu replied to your post: American kids grew up with the 90’s dub and fondly remember the Scouts by their English names. It’s just how people got to know and love the characters. I’d definitely say it’s elitism to judge that. With that said, your blog is great. I know you get flamed sometimes, and I don’t understand why. You post tons of stuff to make any Sailor Moon fan’s heart skip a beat. :)

it’s not elitism because there’s nothing “elite” about watching subs or even just using their original names without having seen the original—it’s purism if anything, which is a different thing entirely. /pedant

YES THIS ALL OF THIS

mouseychuu replied to your post: Sailor Moon was in the 90’s, who cares if most…

SailorStars ran in 96-97 and didn’t make it to fansubs for quite a few more years—I say this as someone old enough to actually remember. And really anon? Aside from BSSM, that shirt is American cartoons—you’re reaching.

Yes this. The shirt is ALL NORTH AMERICAN CARTOONS and then Eternal Sailor Moon at the top. MAKES SENSE.

I’m aware of that but that doesn’t change the history of the franchise. The post’s concerns were legit for Hollywood movie or fanmade video; whitewashing any non-American story is wrong full-stop. I hope they don’t and am not assuming they will tho.

I think you mean Americanizing, not white washing. If I were to make my own Sailor Moon movie, I would break the mold and cast my friends (of all different backgrounds and races) as main characters. Is it still white washing if the role is played by a Latina or African American?

mouseychuu replied to your post: HUGE applause for the last post! Sailor Moon fans on tumblr are just looking for trouble lately. And easily get offended.

Sorry but I don’t agree. There’s a litany problems with Americans whitewashing overtly Japanese stories, and BSSM would be one, set in a real place in Japan with a strong linkage to the country and its customs. That’s undeniably a fraught practice.

It’s just a fanmade cosplay video/movie. Nothing more.

mouseychuu replied to your post: Since people are curious/I’m being bitched at anyway…

How wonderfully sanctimonious: Miss Dream is in on it! Considering they’re illegal distributing materials now that the license is active in the US, that’s really just funny.

You know, I thought I was done with it but I saw a girl white knighting and talking about me on Twitter.

Miss Dream, the one know for her April Fool’s prank?

goddamnit, I want to smack the shit out of Brad from MoonKitty because he’s done NOTHING BUT COMPLAIN since before it even came out. There are no words for how much he has pissed me off. >(

He took the option of writing on his Facebook wall off… figures.
